Monthly Music Events at St. James’

February 13, 2023 by 2

There will be a Songs of Praise afternoon on Sunday 19 February 2023 in the Church at 2.30pm.

We hope you can come along as you’ll be made very welcome.

This is another in our series of monthly musical events.

Monthly music at St. James’ Church started with a Songs of Praise in October 2022.

Both old and new hymns were sung by all. Some solo items were included and also prayers, readings and meditative music. This was a very special time of worship, enjoyed by all.

The Dotty Crotchets – 06 November 2022

Our next afternoon of music took place on Sunday 06 November 2022 at 2.30pm in the Fellowship Hall. The Dotty Crotchets performed a programme of light entertainment. Refreshments were served in the hall after the concert.

Christmas Concert – 09 December 2022

We held a Christmas Concert on Friday 09 December 2022 at 7pm in the church featuring The Lossie Singers, children’s group, soloists, instrumentalists and carols for all. Refreshments were served in the hall after the concert.

Scots Music afternoon – 29 January 2023

There was an afternoon of Scots Music in the hall at St. James’ on Sunday 29 January 2023 at 2.30pm.

The programme included tunes by James Scott Skinner (The Music o’ Spey) and James Alexander (The Hersbruck Waltz and The Fishwives’ Trail), and several well-known Scots songs: My Ain Folk, The Skye Boat Song, Loch Lomond, Lewis Bridal Song and others.

The audience joined in with a couple of Scots melody hymns – to the tunes of Kelvingrove and Highland Cathedral.

Easter Sunday 2026 – He is Risen but how do we still have Hope?

At that time, Tim was terminally ill with pancreatic cancer.

The reference to “Kathy” is to his wife.
