We hope you enjoy this, the St James Church Christmas podcast 2018.

As for previous podcasts, the children of the Good News Club have contributed their time and effort to creating this episode.

Thanks to Emily for the introduction and to Isla and Skye for singing the well-known children’s carol “Mary Had a Little Baby”.

We think this is sure to bring a smile to your face. 🙂

We prepared for this 2-minute drama – text from Scripture Union “Light” materials – in the lead up to Christmas 2017 but we only recorded it on 07 January 2018.

We hope you enjoy this excerpt from “God Comes to the Shepherds”, especially our realistic sheep.

Thanks to everyone who took part.

Luke 2:8-14 (New International Version)
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.”

The Story of Jonah

June 26, 2016 by 2

The Good News Club’s first podcast episode is about the Story of Jonah.

We recorded this at our meeting on Sunday, 26 June 2016. Thanks to Craig, Emily, Luke and Matthew for their contributions.

Please note that the place referred to is Nineveh – not a well-known brand of hand cream – and we are the St James’ (not ‘Sid James’) Good News Club.

Special thanks to Scripture Union for providing the basic script via the Xtreme ‘Light’ Resources for use with young people.

We hope to produce further podcast episodes in the near future.

Easter Sunday 2026 – He is Risen but how do we still have Hope?

April 5, 2026 By 2

“Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!”

Happy Easter!

One modern-day thinker respected by the Church of Scotland in its approach to theology is Dr Timothy Keller (1950 – 2023) – see, for example, the pamphlet “What can I say?” (link to PDF download).

In a world ravaged by war, poverty and fear, on this Easter Sunday, arguably the happiest day of the year in the Christian calendar, here are some words you might like to hear – from Tim Keller.

In an interview recorded with Matt Smethurst in 2021, Tim Keller was asked if he could give any words of reassurance to Christians who are nervous about the future.

At that time, Tim was terminally ill with pancreatic cancer.

The reference to “Kathy” is to his wife.

Tim said:
