On Saturday 12 September 2015, from 10am to 4pm, our sister Church of Scotland in Lossiemouth, St Gerardine’s High Church is having an Open Doors day.
This is a great opportunity to experience what so many previous generations have felt – the spiritual guidance, comfort and strength in what is a unique building.
Various physical features of the building stand out, including:
- the Norman style pillars supporting the wooden roof, which represents Lossiemouth’s boat building and fishing past;
- the Renaissance pillar from the medieval Kinneddar Church;
- the 17th century memorial stone of the Gordon family;
- the stained glass windows commemorating the fallen of the First World War; and
- the carved wooden figure of a shepherd, donated by the people of Hersbruck in Bavaria, Germany. (Hersbruck is twinned with Lossiemouth).
You are invited to have a cup of tea as part of your visit and visitors are always very welcome at St Gerardine’s weekly Sunday Service at 11am.
If you have never been inside the Church before, it is a great opportunity to see its many interesting features. Parking close by is straightforward either on Prospect Terrace or St Gerardine’s Road. Why not combine it with a visit to either the East Beach or the West Beach?
