Showstoppers Holiday Club comes to town! – 11-15 July 2022

July 7, 2022 by 2

**STOP PRESS (11 July 2022): There are still places available for the club this week.

You don’t need to have attended the club from the beginning to be able to come along and join in the fun (i.e. why not come along on 12 July, for example?).

St. James’ Church will be taken over by the Showstoppers’ Theatre from 11-15 July 2022 (10.00 – 12.00 each day).

Malcolm (pictured below), our Creative Director, has instructed us to put out this latest information.

Malcolm: “We aim to bring joy to everyone who comes through our front doors!”

It’s open to you if you have just finished P1, up to P7 age.

Because we have a capacity limit based on the hall size and number of volunteers, we can only take up to 40 children.

As we expected, we have received a lot of completed registration forms within the last few days before the start of the club.

As we may reach the point where we will have to close the club to new registrations, we wanted to emphasise the following:

  • Once the club is full up, we won’t be able to accept any further registration forms.
  • If you would like to attend, please try to contact us ahead of time to make sure places are still available.
  • Please do not just turn up expecting to get a place, if you have not been in touch beforehand. (You can still “just turn up”, but there might not be a place).

How to get in touch

Please call Peter Brash on 07967 720079 or send a message to the Church via our Contact Form.

You can download a registration form here.

Malcolm, the rest of the Out of the Box team, and our gang of volunteers are all looking forward to the Club with great anticipation and we hope to see you there.

P.S. For the original post about Showstoppers – including Malcolm’s personal (if a bit chaotic) invitation – see HERE.

Mouth of the River Lossie from the East Beach - Detail

Sale of St Gerardine’s Church Buildings delayed by artefacts

February 1, 2026 By 2

By way of an update regarding the sale of the former St. Gerardine’s High Church buildings, the property is “under offer”.

In the (pre-new East Beach Bridge) photograph below, St. Gerardine’s is the building with the spire, more or less in the middle of the picture. The former St. James’ Church (which remains open, as part of Laich of Moray Parich Church – see further below) is the building with the very pointy spire, towards the right hand side of the photo.

There are three historic artefacts which remain in the church which will have to be removed before the sale can finally proceed. These are: the Kinneddar Pillar, Drainie Memorial and Stotfield Disaster Memorial Plaque.

The Kirk Session of Laich of Moray Parish Church (formerly, until 31 January 2026, Lossiemouth Parish Church) are doing their best to relocate these items.

The Kirk Session have probably been able to find a new home for the Disaster Memorial Plaque but are still seeking a suitable place or places for the other two artefacts.

We have several local organisations and people assisting in this search, for whose help we are very grateful.

We will provide a further update whenever possible. Recent photos of the 3 historic artefacts are set out below.
