Lossiemouth & Forres Community Heritage Film Projects

August 11, 2016 by 2

The Creative Visions team are hard at work to produce this year’s Lossiemouth Community Celebration film, following the success of ‘Lossiemouth Northern Lights’.

The film is entitled ‘Lossiemouth – Land Sea & Sky.’

Once again, the stars of this film are the people of Lossiemouth.

Guest appearances so far include –

  • Dr Paul Whittaker OBE,
  • Dr John R.Barrett and
  • Dr Gordon Noble of Aberdeen University Archaeology Department.

Filming has taken place at Kinneddar, Spynie Palace (courtesy of Historic Scotland) and at Pitgaveny Estate (courtesy of The Laird).

The film will premiere at Lossiemouth Town Hall at 7.30pm on Friday 25th November 2016. Tickets will go on sale in October. Dates for a matinee screening at St Gerardine’s Church and Christmas party at St James’ will be confirmed later.

The team have also been involved in the production of 2 other films.

One is about HMS Fulmar, to be screened shortly, and a the other is Forres Community Celebration Film to be screened at Forres Town Hall at 7.30pm on Saturday 3rd December 2016.

As before, all the music is original.

Trevski is working with us again this year and we have another song from Iain MacGillivray and Ranald Smith, written by the late Davy Steele. Musician Ray Chaston and local poet, John Mackie, have joined the team.

Archive photographs and cine film from the town is included courtesy of the Lossie Museum and Donnie Stewart. An excerpt of cine film, thought to be lost and showing scenes of a visit to Hersbruck in the 1970s and the Seagull Factory, has been restored by Tim Flood for inclusion in the film.

Exciting creative sessions continue throughout the summer, to which everyone is welcome.

Easter Sunday 2026 – He is Risen but how do we still have Hope?

In a world ravaged by war, poverty and fear, on this Easter Sunday, arguably the happiest day of the year in the Christian calendar, here are some words you might like to hear – from Tim Keller.

In an interview recorded with Matt Smethurst in 2021, Tim Keller was asked if he could give any words of reassurance to Christians who are nervous about the future.

At that time, Tim was terminally ill with pancreatic cancer.

The reference to “Kathy” is to his wife.
