Fiddle Music at St Gerardine’s Church

October 9, 2016 by 2

As reported recently in the Northern Scot,  Elgin Strathspey and Reel Society will perform in concert at St Gerardine’s High Church, Lossiemouth, on Friday 21 October 2016 at 7:00 pm.

The proceeds of the concert will go towards the cost of refurbishment of the church’s west wing. Recently awarded £58,000 from the Listed Places of Worship Roof Repair Fund, the grant is conditional upon the congregation finding the remainder of the £88,000 required to complete the works.

The musicians will be conducted by musical director, Ena Brian who, by then, will be freshly returned from the Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival. Guest artists are John Cockburn on clarinet and vocalist Jim Hogg. Compere for the evening will be John Matheson of Moray Firth Radio.

While Scottish fiddle music will make up the bulk of the programme, the orchestra will also play a selection of international tunes and an arrangement from the musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Tickets cost £8.00 (concessions £6.00) and are available from the following outlets:

  • Lossiemouth Post Office, Queen Street, Lossiemouth;
  • Cathedral Windows, High Street, Elgin; or
  • any St Gerardine’s Church Board Member.

Don’t miss this chance to hear toe-tapping fiddle music at St Gerardine’s Church!
