Apostle The Musical at St James

May 18, 2015 by 2

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here! (2 Cor 5:17 NIV)

We are delighted to welcome Roger Jones and his Christian Music Ministries team to St James again – for the 5th time, in fact – as we participate in another of his wonderful musicals.

Apostle The Musical by Roger Jones of Christian Music Ministries

The conversion of St Paul

St Paul’s conversion on the Damascus road (Acts 9) was a defining moment in the history of the Church. A man zealous in his persecution of early Christians was transformed into a person who was responsible for writing much of the remainder of the New Testament. In this way, he profoundly influenced the thought and theology of the Christian faith over the ensuing 2000 years.

The most life-changing experience any human being can have is an encounter with Jesus Christ. As Paul himself put it: “If anyone is in Christ, that person is a new creation”.

Apostle – the musical

Roger’s Musical is a re-telling of Paul’s story.

It was written in the 1970s for his School Choir and Sunday School Anniversary and, though this version is essentially the same, it is accompanied by a new recording and it concludes with a new, extra item: a new setting of Timothy Dudley-Smith’s hymn about the conversion of St Paul.

The running time for the performance is about 45 minutes. The story is narrated (between the songs) by Barnabas. There are solo singing parts for Paul and Ananias, as well as other parts for Disciples and Priests.

Thursday, 11 June 2015 at 7.30pm

Please come and join us to enjoy Apostle The Musical at St James. Roger’s musicals are always uplifting and worshipful experiences. Our hope and prayer is that performers and audience alike will discover the Man and the Spirit behind the story.

Apostle at Aberlour Church – Friday 12 June 2015 at 7.30pm

Singers from Lossiemouth and Aberlour will be taking part in both performances and the Friday night option is your chance to see it if Thursday does not suit you – or if you would like to see it twice.
